Prominent educator Dr Leonard Shorey is dead at the age of 91.
Dr Shorey died on Monday at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after a brief illness.
In 2014, one of the wings of the Open Campus in the Pine, St Michael, where he served as the then head of the Extra Mural Centre was dedicated to him.
The late educator was awarded the Gold Crown of Merit for his contribution to education. During the period, 1986 to 1991 Dr Shorey served as an Independent Senator in the Upper Chamber.
He was a also a columnist for the Barbados Advocate for over two decades.
Dr Shorey is survived by his wife, Gertude Shorey and daughters, Brenda Pope, Norma Shorey, Denise Shorey and Sandra-Mae Shorey.
Arrangements are yet to be announced for the funeral service and burial of the late educator. (NC)
