The Barbados Reggae Festival is becoming bigger year after year!
During the launch of this year’s festival, Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy, in his address, noted that the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. would be putting more resources behind the festival, owing to the increased number of extra-regional visitors coming to the island.
“We are doing that for good reason. We get a lot of regional movement into Barbados for the Reggae Festival. Six hundred of the 1,400 who came last year traveled from outside the Caribbean,” Sealy said.
To this end, regional airline LIAT is getting on board, offering special packages to potential patrons of the festival. LIAT marketing associate Carol Jordan said the airline was pleased to be partnering with FAS Entertainment for the first time.
“It is certainly a pleasure partnering with FAS for this event. The Barbados Reggae Festival has grown considerably since its inception, and LIAT is committed to the development of the entertainment industry, ensuring that assistance is given towards growth in this area,” Jordan announced. She said LIAT had already begun to see an increase in bookings since the promotion was started.
“Yes we have seen a significant increase in bookings using the promo code for travel into Barbados for the event.”¨We will continue to monitor until the end of the promotion. The promotion is available to anyone flying in and out of the island during that time.
However, we have made it a little easier for persons who are desirous of attending the event,” Jordan said, adding that the discount code would be available until Sunday, April 10.
She confirmed the largest number of visitors to the festival came from St Vincent, Guadeloupe, Trinidad and St Lucia. (DB)
