H and M Syndicate’s bay colt Lucky Adventure will be going after five consecutive wins in the feature race The Garrison Savannah Handicap this Saturday, the ninth day of the Barbados Turf Club’s first racing season.
Lucky Adventure’s first win for the year came on January 2, the first day of the racing season, making it a pillar to post victory over second placed finisher Storm Cat Glory. He then returned on January 30 going 7.8 furlongs against much stiffer competition, making it another start to finish display over Little Man Arran in a smart time of 135.2 in the Australia Handicap.
On February 20, the colt made all the running again in the Benton Handicap with Damario Bynoe riding, making it a hat-trick of wins beating Little Man Arran again.
Lucky Adventure has won with four different jockeys dating back to his very first start as a two-year-old in 2014 with Kenny John in the saddle. This shows he gets along with every one. Among his four wins this year he has been piloted by Kyle Carter and Damario Bynoe, as well as Dario Dalrymple in the Louis Corbin Memorial Trophy (Handicap) on March 19 going 1100 meters.
Lucky Adventure has won five lifetime starts but four this year. His main challenger looks to be Little Man Arran who had finished second to him this year and will carry along 119 pounds. The Boston John-trained Lucky Adventure will take 120 pounds but with hot young apprentice Dario Dalrymple’s claim he will be back down in the weights.
Janak’s Gold, the highest rated horse in the race at 100, will carry the top weight of 120 pounds. The Robert Peirce- trained Donicodidit seems to be back to form. After two disappointing off the board runs this year, he came back to run a top race finishing second to Sirius Black in the Tanglewood Stakes on Gold Cup day.
Donicodidit will carry 117 pounds. The other two horses that make up the six-horse field are Galaxy and Vitality.
Jockeys Anderson Trotman and Kyle Carter will be out of action on Saturday nursing Injuries they sustained on Gold Cup day. However the talent among the jockeys is in ample supply. Apprentice riders Rasheed Hughes and Dario Dalrymple are riding extremely well. Who will forget this March 19 when they combined to win six of the seven races on the card. Leading rider for the year Antiono Bishop and Jalon Samuel are also riding well.
My selection for the Garrison Savannah Handicap – Lucky Adventure from Donicodidit.
Post time for Saturday’s seven-race card is 2.30 p.m.
