Mikhail Nelson and Shawana Harris are Kolij Pageant King And Queen.
Last Saturday night, at The Plantation Theatre, St Lawrence, Christ Church, they beat out fierce competition to take the coveted titles. These two also showed they were the crème de la crème, taking the Best Talent titles and being indeed the crowd favourites.
Nelson tackled the topic of littering in the creative piece Brigadier Of The Environment, and Harris emotively depicted the inner struggle of a young university student faced with the choice of abortion.
The Formal Wear section was fashion- forward, with designs from the likes of Rykii De Jude, Lester Welch, Ian Trotman and Luci Lu. Rykii De Jude’s piece worn by John Mark Hazzard won Best Male Formal Wear, and Luci Lu’s gown worn by Reniece Bonnett placed first among the females. It was no doubt a tough call.
Overall, contestants represented themselves well, and would have grown from the experiences provided in this their Kolij Pageant journey, 2016.
