I am no marine biologist, but it has been determined that on the coast where I live it happens sometimes by something called “red tide”. This is caused by the lack of oxygen and contamination of the water.
With the indiscriminate dumping of garbage I saw while visiting Barbados let’s hope no one is dumping sewerage on the east coast late at night. Hmmm! Smells fishy.
