Officials are this weekend investigating a fish kill at Cattlewash, St Joseph.
Hundreds of fish washed up on the beach on the east coast of the island.
According to reports, residents discovered several dead fish on the shore from yesterday.

I am no marine biologist, but it has been determined that on the coast where I live it happens sometimes by something called “red tide”. This is caused by the lack of oxygen and contamination of the water.
With the indiscriminate dumping of garbage I saw while visiting Barbados let’s hope no one is dumping sewerage on the east coast late at night. Hmmm! Smells fishy.

The Barbados Labotory and the Ministry of Fisheries are capable of testing the dead fish for chemical, biological and radiological.
