Twenty-five cents was at the root of an assault which occurred at Paddock Road, St Michael last Thursday.
Today, Kyle Shamar Price, 23, who was charged for hitting Richard Prescod in the incident, pleaded guilty when he went before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.
The complainant is a groom at Valgle Horse Stables.
The court heard that on Thursday when Price went to Prescod’s workplace selling wrappers and fanta (tobacco) at 25 cents each, as accustomed, Prescod paid 25 cents only.
The two men then got into an argument. Police were called and Price was asked to leave the premises since he was causing a disturbance.
After Prescod left work and was walking along Paddock Road later that evening, Price came out from crouching behind a wall and struck Prescod twice with a blunt object.
Prescod then ran off towards Dalkeith Road. While he was doing so, Price began throwing rocks at the complainant, one of which struck him.
Price, a first-time offender, was sentenced to perform 140 hours of Community Service. He is due to return to court on July 22 after completing the sentence.
