Good Shepherd’s captain Tavian Eastmond led by example as he created two goal-scoring opportunities and led his side to a 2-0 victory over St Silas Primary in the Bico-sponsored National Sports Council’s Primary Schools Football Tournament played today at the Bagatelle, St Thomas playing field.
Most of the first half proved uneventful but then Eastmond received a pass in the midfield and took a long range shot that was assisted by the wind and went over the head of St Silas goalkeeper Malique Griffith and into the back of the goal bars to give his side a 1-0 advantage heading into the second half.
Eastmond apparently enjoys those long-range shots because he struck a lazy-looking shot from 30 yards out but surprisingly the ball hit the top post of the goal bars and James Pounder was in the right position to put it past Griffith who was not having the best of times in the bars.
Also at that same venue, defending champion St Stephen’s Primary played West Terrace but that game ended 0-0 despite several chances that all went a begging.
In a Zone one game played at Speightstown, Selah Primary trounce Roland Edwards 6-0 compliments two goals from Tyrol Joseph and one each from Qumar Carrington, Raquon Leacock, Natari Boyce and an own goal. Half Moon Fort got the better of St Lucy Primary 2-0 at the same location.
Blenheim hosted Zone four matches and Luther Thorne Primary continued to impress with a 2-0 win against St Giles Primary. Charles F. Broome were large and in charge with a 7-0 whipping of St Ambrose. Khalik Vanderpool and Josiah Parris scored two each, while Tario Waithe and Yanni Marshall also scored and the team benefited from an own goal.
St George Primary continues to enjoy success in Zone five and today they registered a 5-0 victory over Workmans Primary thanks to Nicholas Hoyte who scored a hat-trick, and one each from Tyreke Crawford and Tyrese Scott.

Bay Primary registered a 5-0 win playing against St Margaret’s and the prolific Amir Gustave led the way with a hat-trick while Michael Browne and Kemanni St Omere one each. Meanwhile at Ellerton St Jude’s Primary and Hill Top Preparatory played to a 2-2 draw.
