Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant today gave a 24-year-old man one week to find out what passage in the Bible deals with relationships between children and parents.
Rico Prescod of 1st Avenue, Spring Garden, St Michael was on $5, 000 bail for damaging a motorcar belonging to his mother, Barbara Prescod, and unlawfully assaulting her.
That incident occurred on November 7, 2015.
However, when his mother appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court this morning, she dropped the case against him.
“I no longer wish to pursue with the case,” Barbara Prescod said, adding that she was neither threatened nor forced to make that decision.
The magistrate then asked Rico to tell the court what measures he had taken to change his ways.
“I am cool. I have been talking with my mother and everything is going good. I am going to church . . . I pray,” he said.
It was then that he was asked about the Bible verse which he admitted not knowing.
He was sent home with two hints to return next Thursday.
