PORT OF SPAIN –– Two people were injured when a truck crashed through a metal barrier on the Lady Young Road, Port of Spain on Wednesday morning.
The crash happened in the vicinity of the Hilton Hotel and the Belmont Secondary School. A school block located nearest the crash site was evacuated to ensure the safety of pupils.
The dump truck, which was carry a load of material, reportedly tumbled off the hillside. Fire fighters and police officers removed the driver Ramkissoon Ramjit and his son. Both were taken to hospital.
Last week a truck driver was killed when his vehicle skidded off the road and went over a precipice on Wednesday along a road in Siparia. Seedass Sooknanan, 53, was driving along Murray Trace.
The vehicle crashed through some bushes and overturned as it went over the cliff. Police said Sooknanan was crushed by the truck.
