Two men Two St Michael men, accused of stealing 16 perfumes from Cave Shepherd late last month, have been remanded to HMP Dodds.
Among Sergeant Azel Skeete’s objections to bail for the accused men were that Shadrie Sheldon DaCosta Marshall has 20 convictions for burglary and drug offences while Rodney St Clair Odle has 16, the last one for assault in 2006.
Marshall, a 27-year-old labourer, lives at Lower Richmond Gap, while Odle, 39 and unemployed, is from Weekes Land, Goodland. Both men denied stealing the perfumes, which are worth $2,736. 48.
Skeete’s other objections were that the matter was a serious one and he feared that if granted bail at this time, the accused would continue to commit similar offences. He also argued that society needed to be protected from them at this time.
In his bail application, Marshall, who limped to the dock with a heavily bandaged left leg, said he needed to attend a doctor’s appointment which was coming up on Wednesday.
Adding that he has three broken toes, the accused man asked that he be granted bail even with conditions attached, so he could attend the bone specialist.
Acting Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch remanded the men to HMP Dodds until July 28, and ordered that Marshall receive medical attention while at the prison.
