Eminent jurist Sir Frederick Smith is to be given an official funeral.
A release from the Barbados Government Informatoin Service said the thanksgiving service for the life of the former Attorney General would take place on Friday, August 5 at the James Street Methodist Church in Bridgetown.
Sir Frederick died on July 11 at age 92.
The release said the service, which begins at 10 a.m., will be officiated by Bishop of the South Caribbean District of the Methodist Church Reverend Dr Cuthbert Edwards and Methodist Minister Reverend Colton Bennett. It will be followed by a private interment.
Sir Frederick, a founding member of the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP), served as Attorney General of Barbados from 1966 to 1971. He was also a former Chief Justice of the Turks and Caicos and a former President of the Court of Appeal of Grenada.
A condolence book will be opened at DLP headquarters, George Street, St. Michael, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 4. A condolence book will also be placed at the church on the morning of the funeral service, the release said.
