A 51-year-old St Michael man has been ordered to perform 200 hours of community service for defecating in a public place.
Rudolph Garfield Worrell, of 4th Avenue, Upper Goodland today admitted to Magistrate Douglas Frederick that he committed the act at the Eagle Hall Market while in the nude.
According to the facts read by the police prosecutor, Worrell was naked and asleep on a box when the caretaker at the market spotted him around 7 a.m. on August 29.
The caretaker left to report the matter to the police. However, on his return, the accused had left, leaving behind faeces and urine in the area were he had been sleeping.
Asked to account for his behaviour Worrell said he was feeling unwell and suffering from diarrhea.
However, Magistrate Douglas Frederick told him he should have cleaned up after himself given the location.
“This is a very serious act. You threatened the livelihoods of the other people, in a place that must be hygienic at all times,” Frederick told Worrell who is known to the court as a habitual thief.
He returns to court on December 9.
