The Barbados Defence Force (BDF) now has a number of officers of higher rank with the promotion of 11 members of the regular and reserve sections.
The promotions, approved by Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave, took effect on August 15, with the information published in the Official Gazette of September 5, a copy of which was received by Barbados TODAY yesterday morning.
All of the appointments, which include three females, have antedates for seniority, ranging from June 2010 to January 2016.
All but two of the promotions were to the rank of Substantive Lieutenant, while one officer, Captain Andrew Skeete, was promoted to Substantive Major and Acting Captain Donville Dash to Substantive Captain.
Meanwhile, Government has also announced the appointment of a seven-member Police Complaints Authority for a three-year period beginning last month.
Justice Leroy Inniss, QC, will chair the body and will be joined by Michael Beckles and Deputy Chairman, Dr Raymond Forde;, Charles Blades, Cecil McCarthy, QC, and Henderson Marshall, who is the new secretary.
The head of the Civil Service will serve an ex-officio member.
The appointments took effect on September 6, with the information also published in the Official Gazette of September 5. Their term of office expires on September 5, 2019.
