With only 50 days left until Barbados celebrates its 50th Anniversary of Independence, the Independence Secretariat organized a flash mob in the City today.
Performers surprised shoppers with a dance in the middle of Broad Street to Lil Rick’s popular Iz A Bajan. Several people paused and watched the dance, cheering and singing along with the music.
Onlookers were further treated to tuk band music as the mini parade made its way to Jubilee Gardens, where there was more dancing and a presentation by stilt walkers and Mother Sally.
Senator Maxine McClean highlighted some of the major activities coming up as the country goes into full celebration mode.
One of the major events will be the Prime Minister’s Dinner and Ball themed One Golden Moment in Time: A Celebration of Excellence, on November 25.
Guests will be treated to exquisite dishes created by the world-renowned Barbados culinary team and the event will feature some of the best entertainment the island has to offer.
Other events next month include a play themed Mirror Mirror, Show Me a Hero, which will be dedicated to late Governor General Dame Nita Barrow. The play will be staged on November 17-26 at the Frank Collymore Hall.
There will also be a Golden Anniversary Spectacular Mega Concert on November 30 at the Historic Garrison Savannah.
McClean invited all Bajans at home and abroad to come out and take part in the wonderful celebrations.
