A St George teen who was charged in connection with a video showing a male making sexual advances towards a minor, appeared in court Thursday and was granted bail.
Kwame Everton Dashawn Yearwood, 17, of Groves Tenantry, was not required to plead to the indictable offence when he made his first appearance before Magistrate Douglas Frederick.
Yearwood, who was arrested after the video made the rounds on social media, is charged with committing an act of serious indecency towards a child under the age of 16.
The incident allegedly occurred sometime between September 17 and 19 this year.
Yearwood was granted bail in the sum of $5 000, which he posted with one surety, and was ordered to return to the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on January 23, 2017.
He was also ordered to stay away from the complainant and the Nursery Drive van stand.
In a separate matter, Wayne Dexter Peters was also granted $5 000 bail on a rape charge.
Peters, 35, of Beckwith Street, St Michael, is charged with having sexual intercourse with a female, sometime between August 19 and September 30, without her consent.
Peters will return to court on January 23 as well.
