Bajan Songstress Wendy Alleyne has promised to take Barbadians on a delightful trip down memory lane when she takes to the stage at the National Stadium on Friday.
The legendary singer who held a meet and greet yesterday at Cave Shepherd, said she was excited and ready to perform for all her fans at the show – Wendy Alleyne in Concert: A tribute to Barbados at 50.
“Its an exciting feeling. It’s like performing for the president. But I will be performing for the Prime Minister on the 30th so I’m also excited about that. All the legends are going to be there on the 25th and it’s going to be a great, great show,” she said.
Alleyne is known best for songs including A Thing About You, Stand By Love, Midnight Blue and many more, which she promised to deliver on the night.
Promoter of the show Andre Craig of 246 Entertainment said the show was aimed at celebrating the island’s grand jubilee and it would have something for every Barbadian.
“We are just doing last minute promotions for this concert and I promise it’s going to be one great night. It is most fitting to have it centred on the 50th anniversary while highlighting the music that paved the way for local artistes. These people, they paved the way for young artistes,” he said.
The show will also feature the likes of Richard Stoute, Desmond Weekes, Carolyn Leacock, Tony Grazette, Smokey Burke, Adrian Clarke, Colin Spencer, Ian Webster and reigning calypso monarch Aziza.
Fans were happy to interact with Alleyne during the meet and greet. She signed autographs, sang songs and danced with them.
