An American visitor had to pay the Oistins Magistrates’ Court $500 forthwith today, after he pleaded guilty to an assault charge.
Preye Dolapo Preboye, 26, of Florida, was charged with assaulting Winston Boyce of December 1.
He arrived in Barbados on November 25 and was guest at Bougainvilla Hotel in Maxwell, Christ Church. On the mentioned date, Preboye was at the hotel’s pool but was sitting on some rocks, which is prohibited.
The night manager approached him and asked him to move for his safety, but he refused.
The manger then solicited the help of Boyce, who is a security guard at the establishment.
Preboye was again asked to move, but he became angry, got up and pushed the complainant about five times, which resulted in him falling into the pool.
The matter was reported to the police and the guard pressed charges against the visitor.
And while Preboye admitted to the charge, he allegedly told the police that he did not think he had done anything wrong because he felt harassed.
Acting Magistrate Alliston Seale imposed the fine on Preboye who was scheduled to leave the country today. It was paid.
