A St Michael man who turned himself in after hitting another man with his car, appeared before a Bridgetown Magistrate today.
Usman Salam Bhana, 25, from Chapman Street admitted that on December 8, having charge of a motorcar, by willful misconduct caused bodily harm to Jamal Skeete.
In presenting the case, prosecutor Sergeant Janice Ifill said it was while Bhana was at his residence around 3:15 a.m. on the mentioned date that he heard his car alarm going off.
When he got up and checked, he saw Skeete tampering with his vehicle.
Bhana then went outside and the complainant walked off. Bhana followed him to White Park Road where the two were involved in a confrontation. Skeete reportedly rushed at Bhana with a sword and he retaliated by driving his car at Skeete, striking him on the legs. Skeete received an abrasion to his left foot and a wound to the right.
Bhana then left and reported the matter to the police.
After hearing the facts, Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant adjourned the case until December 16, when Skeete is expected to appear in court.
In the meantime, Bhana was released on $2,000 bail which he secured with one surety.
