Instead of mourning the death of outspoken pastor, educator and mentor Bishop Vibert Lowe, those attending his funeral service at Abundant Life Assembly at the weekend joyously celebrated his life and achievements.
The church was packed to capacity with family, friends and colleagues of the Power in the Blood Assembly leader, and upbeat music filled the house of worship as they commemorated the life of a man who healed and counselled many.
As Pastor Ashel Phillips asserted in her tribute, “there will never ever be another Bishop Lowe”.
Speaking about the church leader who preached his last sermon a day before his passing on November 28, Phillips said: “He set about with a passion to teach us the Word thoroughly”.
She described Lowe as a man of integrity, goodness, honesty and uprightness, and a disciplined and principled Bishop who led by example.
Meanwhile, Power in the Blood Assembly colleague Terrance Sobers said Lowe, who was in his 70s, was dedicated “to depopulate hell and repopulate heaven”.
Lowe’s daughters delivered a heart-rending musical tribute to their father who had been ill for several years, while his son Dave told the congregation that his father, known for being strict but kind, had gone home to be “present with God”.
“He was very strict, but loving. We never went a day without hearing how much he loved us,” he reminisced.
