Jamaica Scorpions beat Barbados Pride by 74 runs in Round 9 of the Regional Super50 Zone B Championship at the Kensington Oval Thursday night.
Chasing 256 to win, Barbados Pride were bowled out for 181 in the 41st over.
Shai Hope top-scored for the Pride with 56 off 70 balls including eight boundaries. His half-century came off 59 balls and contained seven fours.
Opening batsman Kraigg Brathwaite made 52 off 83 deliveries, hitting two boundaries. His fifty took 78 balls.
Off-spinner John Campbell was the leading wicket-taker with four for 43 off ten overs.
Leg-spinner Damani Sewell took three for 46 off ten overs.
Earlier, Jamaica Scorpions led by Devon Thomas’ 65, made 255 for 8 in their 50 overs. The Antiguan-born batsman’s knock took him 73 balls and included four boundaries. His fifty came off 59 balls with three fours.
Opener Chadwick Walton made 58 off 69 deliveries, striking six fours and one six. He reached his half-century off 61 balls including five fours and one six.
Off-spinner Ashley Nurse’s excellent tournament continued and he took three for 38 off ten overs. Fast bowler Miguel Cummins was very expensive in claiming three for 39 off five overs.
It was Barbados Pride’s first defeat of the tournament.
