The action was fast and frenetic as Wills Primary staged their inter-house sports day at Coverley playing field, Christ Church, Friday.
When the dust cleared and the excited screams had ended, it was Brancker ‘Green’ House which emerged as champions with 588 points. Finishing in second place were the boys and girls of Flatt ‘Yellow’ House with 534 points having pushed Brancker House to the limit throughout the day. Loustric ‘Red’ House finished in third place with 452 points and Rose ‘Blue’ House ended in fourth position with 424 points.
The competition was quite close but in the end Flatt House’s Aiden Clarke took the junior (KG4 to class 1) victor ludorum title while Brancker House’s Lily Brewster took the victrix ludorum honours.
Among the class 2 to 4 competitors, Reagan Gibbons of Brancker House proved to be a cut above the rest in capturing the victor ludorum title, while Flatt House’s Jolie Phillips was the victrix ludorum.
The athletes competed in the 80m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m relays, long jump and high jump. There were also novelty events and participation from parents and guardians of the pupils.
Speaking to Barbados TODAY Friday evening, Wills Primary’s Alice George said today’s athletics meet was an exciting and successful affair with extremely keen and spirited competition among the children throughout the afternoon.
