Some new winners were crowned last weekend when the Courtesy Garage Monthly Medal tournament for March was contested at the Barbados Golf Club.
A competitive field of 60 golfers teed-off in an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday, and some outstanding play was witnessed in sunny conditions on the challenging Durants course.
At the end of 18 holes, Yogi Lehtinen emerged winner of the seniors division with a net 71 while Andy Dickson took the 13 and over handicap category, also with a net 71.
Barbados Golf Association president Trevor Tasker was the winner among the low handicappers with a net 70 while Lynn deCambra-Mcleod topped the women’s division, with a net 73. Barbados player Maurice Forde shot the day’s best gross score of 77 to win that prize.
Monthly medal tournaments are being sponsored by Courtesy Garage for the second year running, through their Nissan and Hyundai brands, and players are being awarded points for top three finishes.
Another nine medal tournaments are to be contested and the leaders in the four divisions will qualify for a year-end play-off to determine the overall champions for 2017.
