A 32-year-old deliveryman was remanded to HMP Dodds pending sentencing Tuesday, hours after he trespassed on his ex-lover’s home.
Alberto Montebreen Hinds, of Phillip Road, St Stephen’s Hill, St Michael pleaded guilty before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant to entering the home of Donna Husbands as a trespasser earlier Tuesday, with intent to inflict bodily harm on her.
The court heard from police prosecutor Sergeant Martin Rock that Hinds and Husbands were previously in an intimate relationship.
They live in the same neighbourhood and Hinds would sleep over some nights at Husbands’ request, but she later realized that he was “possessive and obsessive” over her.
According to Rock, Hinds would sometimes show up unannounced and accuse her of having another man. He also reportedly followed her on one occasion and stood outside watching her house. Husbands told the man to stop “stalking” her.
Earlier Tuesday, Hinds went to the woman’s house and demanded to be let in. She refused and contacted police. The lawmen turned up and instructed Hinds to leave Husbands’ premises.
However, he returned later in the day and forced his way through the back door, went to the woman’s bedroom and held his hand over her mouth. Husbands was able to get away and ran to a neighbour for help.
Hinds was later arrested, charged and taken before the court.
He returns to court for sentencing on May 26.
