Jason Renaldo Ashton, who is currently serving time at HMP Dodds, has an additional 12 months to spend in jail as punishment for several thefts he committed last year.
Ashton, who is from Lower Fairview, Christ Church recently pleaded guilty before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the No. 1 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.
He was sentenced to nine months in jail for stealing a toolbox and its contents worth $700 and a pair of sunglasses belonging to Neval Greenidge on July 23, 2016, and another three-month prison term that will run consecutively with the first sentence, for stealing $30 belonging to Winston Carter on July 10, 2016.
Ashton was also slapped with prison sentences for three other thefts, but they will run concurrently with the other two sentences. They are: six months for stealing $400 in cash belonging to Carter on July 12, 2016; six months for stealing $900 in cash belonging to Kerry Hinkson on August 6, 2016; and one month for stealing $250 from Hinkson again, on August 12.
Magistrate Frederick ruled that Tuesday’s sentences will run consecutively to time Ashton is already serving at the St Philip penal institution.
