Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant Wednesday remanded theft accused Brandon Keron Coward to the Psychiatric Hospital for observation.
This was after the man, who has no fixed place of abode, pleaded guilty to two charges when he appeared before her in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Criminal Court.
He admitted to stealing a television worth $675, belonging to John Bonnett, on May 13. A day later, he entered the home of Tiffany Worrell as a trespasser and stole her laptop computer worth $2,063.
He returns to court on June 7.
In another matter before Magistrate Cuffy-Sargeant, Tremaine Dario Yarde of Spooner’s Hill Main Road, St Michael denied a burglary charge.
It is alleged that the 24-year-old entered RJ’s City Restaurant and Deli as a trespasser, sometime between May 15 and 16, and stole 15 boxes of juice, 55 drinks, three packs of bread, a large bottle of cooking oil, five packs of ketchup, three large containers of milk, five packs of peas and a pack of rice, with a total value of $269.77, belonging to Ruthann Brathwaite.
Police prosecutor Station Sergeant Janice Ifill did not object to bail for the accused but urged Magistrate Cuffy-Sergeant to apply conditions to his release.
Yarde was granted $1,500 bail, which he secured with one surety, and was warned to stay away from the complainant and her premises.
He is expected to make his second appearance before the magistrate on July 26.
