There was place on the Green’s, St George playing field for St John Primary to hide Thursday, as a rampant St Jude’s Primary smashed eight unanswered goals past their custodian in the BICO-sponsored National Sports Council’s Primary Schools Football Tournament.
Donte Gill and Shamari Harewood were the chief tormentors in the 8-0 drubbing, with both youngsters registering hat-tricks. Davon Alleyne and Antoine Aimey completed the demolition job in the Zone 5 match-up.
In another game at that ground, Bay Primary defeated Mount Tabor 3-0 while Providence and Cuthbert Moore played out a 1-1 draw. Spencer Haslett netted for Providence and Joshua Thorpe cancelled out that strike.
At Briar Hall, Christ Church in Zone 7, St Gabriel’s defeated Arthur Smith 3-0 thanks to goals from Eton Wood and Marcus Jordan. There was also an own goal. St Winifred’s edged out Milton Lynch 2-1 with goals from Warren Povey and Adrian Moore for the winners and Christian Brewster netting for Milton Lynch. Yanic Griffith’s goal sufficed to give Wills a 1-0 win over St Angela’s while St Christopher and St Lawrence drew 2-2. Adriano Bascombe and Reuben Jacobs scored for St Christopher while Malakai Holder and Omari Wharton responded for St Lawrence.
In Zone 3 at Ellerton, St George, St George Primary beat Ellerton Primary 2-1. At Shorey Village, St Andrew, in another Zone 3 encounter, Thierry Bradshaw was absolutely brilliant as he netted a beaver-trick in A DaCosta Edward’s 5-0 spanking of St Bernard’s. Khalom Campbell got the other goal.
There was also lots of excitement at the Blenheim, St Michael pasture in Zone 4 action. People’s Cathedral defeated Luther Thorne 3-1 with a brace coming from Rasheed Moore and teammate Matthew Clarke adding the third. Andrew Downey netted for Luther Thorne.
Talented Marcus Whittington scored a goal and there was also an own goal as St Cyprian’s defeated St Paul’s 2-1 for whom Deonte Chapman scored. Wilkie Cumberbatch beat George Lamming 2-1 thanks to goals from their captain Amego Jordan and Jean-Luc Stoute. Giovanni Gilkes scored for George Lamming. Belmont Primary scored both goals in their 1-1 draw with Charles F. Broome. Tyrell Alleyne scored for Belmont and then his school gifted their opponents with an own goal. St Giles’ Reshone Wharton scored and his team also benefited from an own goal as they won 2-0 over St Ambrose.(WG)
