It was a quiet Whit Monday for Barbadians.
While the roads were noticeably free of the normal hustle and bustle, the beach was clearly the venue of choice for scores who hit the cool waters to beat the day’s heat.
At Batts Rock Beach, picnic tables were covered with all types of culinary delights as families and friends gathered to have fun.
A large group comprising of the Lynch, Bailey and Worrell families told Barbados TODAY they came out to relax and have fun.
Matriarch of the ten households in attendance, Judy Bailey, said the huge gathering was a normal family activity done twice or thrice a year. Surrounded by her six children, 19 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, Bailey leisurely sat under a tree with her sister Cytomia Worrell and her family taking in the sea breeze and enjoying the home cooked food.
A minister at Worldwide Apostolic Church, Bailey said, “The word of God says that a family that prays together stays together and this is what my family does all the time.
They get together and they just go and chill out and enjoy themselves and I believe that’s the way families should be.
“All families aren’t the same way, with some against some, but at the end of the day you are still family I believe God ordained a family that they should stay together. If you can’t stay together with your family, who are you going to stay together with”?
Over at Browne’s Beach, scores relaxed on the sand, while others were busy enjoying the cool, blue waters and children were busy running and playing games of all kinds.

Patty. How in tarnation can you dismiss the dinosaurs existence? are you saying that those fossils are not real? Read this then get back to me. Our solar system is about the size of a single grain of sand in all the earth's oceans and deserts put together, when compared with our galaxy. The bible is a book and anybody with any intelligence realises it's a manual like you get with your new washing machine new car etc. It's something to read and try hard to live your life by but it's only a book . Like Disney put messages out to children in their movies it's just been taken to far now .
