A 65-year-old messenger appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court yesterday, accused of stealing thousands of dollars from his employer.
It is alleged that Grantley St Clair Nurse, of Skeete’s Road, Jackmans, St Michael stole US$19,641 from the Barbados Fertility Centre and then another US$4,950 from the same business sometime between May 23 and 30.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charges when he appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick yesterday.
There was no objection to bail from the police prosecutor Sergeant Martin Rock, who simply requested that conditions be imposed on the accused.
The prosecutor’s request was granted and Nurse, who was released on $10,000 bail with one surety, had to hand over his passport to the court before he was allowed to go.
He must also report to the District ‘A’ Police Station every Wednesday before 10 a.m., with valid identification.
Nurse has been ordered to make his second appearance before Magistrate Frederick on September 13.
