A middle-aged man is expected to know his fate in 28 days, after admitting to harassing a 15-year-old girl on Browne’s Beach Sunday.
Richard Dacosta Jordan of #1 Cane Vale, Christ Church entered the guilty plea when he appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court Monday.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Cameron Gibbons, told the court that Jordan saw the minor on the Bay Street, St Michael beach yesterday and approached her several times. At one point, he told her: “Girl you look good. I would *** that *****.”
After Jordan passed the girl several times, staring at her, the teenager became frightened and ran to the police for help. When the police approached Jordan, he ran off and jumped into the water.
Police sought the help of lifeguards and the man was caught and questioned. He told police at the time that he thought the girl was a “prostitute”.
In court Monday, Jordan stuck to that story.
“I saw the young lady. I did not know she was 15 years. I thought she was a prostitute; I asked her for sexual favours,” he told Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant.
The magistrate then remanded him into custody until July 10 when he will return to court for sentencing.
