A flood warning is currently in effect for Barbados.
Officials at the Barbados Meteorological Services say this is as a result of a passing tropical wave that has been generating cloudy to overcast skies, moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and isolated thunderstorms.
“Reports indicate that flash-flooding is occurring in some areas of the island and these conditions are likely to persist for at least another two to four hours.
“A flood warning has been issued and will remain in effect until 6p.m this afternoon,” the Met Office said in a statement issued a short while ago.
It said additional rainfall accumulations of up to 25 – 50 mm (1-2 inches) are possible.
Residents in flood prone areas are asked to exercise caution and remain on the alert.
