Officials at the Barbados Meteorological Services say they are monitoring the progress of a tropical wave over the central Atlantic.
At 2p.m. today, the axis of the system was located near 32 to 33 degrees west.
“At present, model guidance is suggesting some slow development is possible over the next few days as the tropical wave moves westward at 17 to 23 mph towards the Lesser Antilles.
“Regardless of development, some moderate to heavy showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely to spread across Barbados late Thursday into Friday as the wave moves across the region.
“Marine conditions are also expected to deteriorate around the same period,” the local met office said in a Severe Weather Information Statement issued at 4pm today.
