Horatio Walter Labodie will only be looking out from his cell at Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds for the next 12 months.
Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant this morning imposed the sentence on the Dunlow Lane, St Michael resident who had claimed he only acted as the lookout in a robbery at Pirates Cove on July 2, because he needed money for his pregnant girlfriend and to pay rent.
On Wednesday, Labodie pleaded guilty in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Criminal Court to the charge of entering the storeroom of Pirates Cove as a trespasser on July 2, 2017, and stealing four cases of brandy valued at $5,357.67.
At the time, Cuffy-Sargeant stated that since the other accused were in police custody, she preferred to sentence everyone involved on the same date, in order “to be fair.”
However, when Labodie returned to court this morning, Sergeant Glenda Nicholls-Carter indicated that the other persons of interest had not yet been charged, so the magistrate handed down her sentence.
