A 65-year-old handyman who previously pleaded guilty to six drug related offences was today sentenced to 18 months behind bars.
Desmond Tyrone Branker of School Lane, Hall Road, St Michael has been on remand since October 31 last year, on charges of possession of three counts of cannabis, one count of possession of cocaine, one count of possession with intent to traffic cannabis and two counts possession of apparatus for the misuse of cocaine.
Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant handed him a nine-month prison sentence for the possession of cocaine charge, and a further nine months to run consecutively on the trafficking of cannabis charge. Time spent on remand will be taken into account.
Branker was reprimanded and discharged on the other offences.
However, his legal troubles do not end here as he is also facing the indictable charges of possession of a firearm and possession of 72 rounds of ammunition.
These two cases continue in the No.2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on October 4.
