A 47-year-old Christ Church woman has been remanded to the Psychiatric Hospital for assessment after pleading guilty to theft.
Charmaine Elizabeth Ann Thomas of Apartment 9, Golden Castle Apartments in Rendezvous admittedly entered Massy Stores at Worthing and stole a box of lobster worth $60.89 and a can of crabmeat worth $45.25 on September 18.
She was caught on video camera placing the items in her handbag before proceeding to the cashier and paying for two bottles of wine.
After she was caught with the items, the unemployed woman said she had forgotten them in her bag.
Asked today by Magistrate Douglas Frederick whether she needed medical help, Thomas said she did not feel that anything was wrong with her.
However, the magistrate ordered that a mental evaluation be done on Thomas, who returns to the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on October 5 for sentencing.
