After denying several drug charges back in July, a 39-year-old accused woman has apparently had a change of heart.
Nyoka Jamo Edwards of Murphy’s Pasture, Chapman Lane, St Michael today pleaded guilty to possession, possession with intent to supply and trafficking 1.5 pounds of cannabis, valued at $3,000.
The illegal substance was found in a bedroom and on top of a refrigerator while police was executing a search warrant at her house on July 12.
“That is my weed. I does boil some for my daughter she is an asthmatic,” Edwards reportedly told police when asked to account for the drugs.
Today in court she told Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant she was entering a guilty plea for the offences, but quickly added: “I don’t know if I will be able to pay a fine because I am unemployed right now.”
Edwards will know her fate when she makes her next court appearance in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on October 30.
