The regional media fraternity has reacted with shock to the tragic death of 45-year-old Grenadian videographer Rollin Williams, who drowned at Brandons Beach, St Michael sometime after 7 a.m. today.
Lawmen say the Husbands Heights, St James resident had gone into the water to assist his wife Carol, who got into difficulty. However, after assisting her, he got into difficulty himself and his lifeless body was subsequently pulled from the water.
At the time of his death, Williams was contracted by the Nation Publishing Company Limited whose Editor-in-Chief Eric Smith today described the late photojournalist as a dedicated individual who paid exceptional attention to detail.
“It was with deep regret that I learnt of the tragic death of Rollin Williams, who I knew professionally over the last three years. He was a dedicated videographer and photographer who took special pride in all he did and who, with his wife and business partner Carol Williams, were an exceptional team in journalism.”
In a statement this afternoon, the Media Association of Grenada (MWAG) also said it was saddened by Williams’ death.
“MWAG joins with other media colleagues in extending condolences to his wife Carol and the rest of his family,” the statement added.
