A 25-year-old man, who was caught with cannabis in Barbados’ territorial waters, has been ordered to perform community service.
Nikolai Ian Inniss, of No.8 Newton Park, Christ Church, pleaded guilty to having $45 worth of the illegal substance in his possession while aboard the Jolly Roger pleasure cruise yesterday.
“I made a mistake. I apologize. I had marijuana,” Inniss said when asked to account for the drugs.
Today his attorney Calvin Hope told Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant his client was remorseful and understood that he had made “a cardinal error”.
“He has given the undertaking that he will not have those things in his possession again,” Hope submitted.
Inniss, who is not previously known to the criminal justice system, must now perform 140 hours of community service.
He returns to the No.2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on January 30 next year.
In the meantime, he remains on $1,500 bail.
