A chicken nuggets thief will know his fate when he returns to the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on December 4.
Ryan Ricardo Belle, of Reed Street, St Michael, today pleaded guilty to stealing eight bags of chicken nuggets worth $298.60, belonging to Jordans Supermarket Limited on November 4.
On that date, he reportedly entered the establishment and proceeded to the cold storage area where he placed the items in two bags he was carrying at the time. However, when he was approached by security, he was unable to give account for the items in his possession.
The 27-year-old man has also admitted to stealing a $31.99 bag of nuggets from Popular Discount on October 4 and to stealing a $249 cellular phone on October 3.
Today, his attorney Romel Watkins, in his pleading for leniency, told Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant that he grew up in the same neighbourhood as Belle and it was unfortunate that he had found himself before the court for all the wrong reasons.
While suggesting that his client had a “mistake”, the attorney also said Belle was remorseful and if given a chance would be willing to pay compensation to the aggrieved parties.
However, the magistrate pointed out that Belle had one previous conviction under Theft Act along with two pending matters.
He will therefore be sentenced after the facts of those offences are heard when he returns to court next month.
