A St Michael man, in his 20s, who is already serving time at HMP Dodds, will have to spend an additional nine months behind bars.
Leron Alexander Wilfred Bennett, of Quarry Road, Bank Hall, pleaded guilty to burglarizing, Just De Snack Bar Snackette and Variety, located at Hill Road, Bank Hall, St Michael and stealing $600 in cash belonging to Antelia Whitehall sometime between August 23 and 24, 2015.
Bennett entered the establishment by removing galvanize to the rear side of the building.
His fingerprints were later found on one of the moneyboxes.
On September 28 last year, he also stole a $10 plastic container, eight boxes of cigarettes worth $71, a $10 pack of fanta, three packs of mints worth $24, a $120 cellular phone and six packs of wrappers belonging to Ervin Sands.
Sands operates a stall on the corner of President Kennedy Drive and Barbarees Hill. He was in the process of locking up the place when he turned around and saw Bennett taking up the items and running off in the direction of Eagle Hall Market.
Based on the facts presented, Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant sentenced him to nine months in prison, which will run consecutively to his current prison sentence.
