A 30-year-old man has one month to pay the court a $750 fine if he wants to avoid spending time at Dodds prison.
When Andre Isiah Richards, of Jordans Land, St George, appeared before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch he pleaded guilty to having 14 grammes of cannabis in his possession on November 20.
The illegal substance was found in his bedroom when police executed a search warrant at his home just before 8 a.m. on that day.
“That is mine officer. That is just a lil shake off I had there,” he reportedly told the officers at the time.
In the docks of the District ‘C’ Magistrates’ Court he told Birch that the police did not come to the house for him but “when they came I was smoking . . . so I owned up to what was there”.
If Richards fails to pay the fine he will have to spend three months at the St Philip penal institution.
