A 36-year-old man, who pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman, has been handed a nine-month suspended sentence.
Stephenson Oneal Bailey, of Apt No. 33 Golden Circle, Amity Lodge, Christ Church, admitted to unlawfully and maliciously wounding Amanda Catwell on December 19.
According to the prosecutor the two got into an argument after Catwell tried to snatch Bailey’s cellular phone from him. During the argument, he slapped her in the face, causing two people to intervene.
However, as Catwell attempted to leave the area, Bailey threw a rock at her, striking her above her right eye and causing a laceration.
When the matter came up in the No. 1 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court, Bailey, who is known to the court, apologized for his actions.
If he is found guilty of any offence between now and September next year he will have to spend three months at HMP Dodds.
However, he must return to court on January 19 when Frederick will speak with Catwell on the issue of compensation.
In the meantime, he remains on $1,000 bail.
