Homeowner Magreta Jordan-Watson celebrated Christmas in a big way and her 2018 is now looking even brighter.
That’s because the Barbados Light & Power Company (BL&P) customer is the winner of an energy-efficient home upgrade, valued at $25, 000.
The upgrade was the big prize in the Home of the Future Competition, which was launched by BL&P at BMEX in June last year. The competition ended in November 2017.
Jordan-Watson, who visited BL&P’s Home of the Future booth at the exhibition, remembered going to the trade show at the insistence of her daughter Akilah and after almost bypassing the booth her daughter said, “let’s go in.
“This is a tangible blessing from God for 2017, especially since the year was challenging. I was delighted when Mrs Griffith-Tang How contacted me because an energy-efficient dishwasher for my kitchen has been an agenda item for a while,” she said.
Over the next few months, she will work with the company’s Customer Solutions team in selecting the upgrades that best suit her lifestyle.
Blackman noted that Jordan-Watson now has the opportunity to make her home one for the future and to consider energy efficient items and electricity management solutions.
“She has a range of options now available to her. This energy-efficient home upgrade voucher will give her the opportunity to choose from photovoltaic panels, a Powerwall, EE appliances, LED lighting and more.”
Light & Power’s 100/100 vision is an aspirational goal of 100 per cent transition to renewable energy (RE) over the next 25 to 30 years, along with 100 per cent electrification of the country, initially focusing on the transportation and tourism sectors.
The company said it remains committed to working with stakeholders to find the right energy solutions for Barbados and to educating and building awareness among Barbadians.
