A 54-year-old jockey, accused of committing an indictable offence, will spend the next 28 days on remand.
It is alleged that Ray Anderson Herbert, of no fixed place of abode, entered a woman’s home as a trespasser on January 21 with the intention of indecently assaulting an 11-year-old girl who lives at the house.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Cameron Gibbons, objected to Herbert’s release based on the strength of the evidence against him, the age of the alleged victim and the accused man’s 28 antecedents – ten of which are for breaking and entering homes.
In his application for bail, Herbert told Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant that he had been ill for the past 40 days with gastro and vomiting.
However, the explanation did not secure him his freedom. The accused man is expected to reappear before Cuffy-Sargeant on February 23.
