Twenty-seven-year-old Ricardo Scantlebury has been sentenced to three months in prison for having drug paraphernalia.
Police saw Scantlebury, of no fixed place of abode, lurking around in the wee hours on November 17 last year.
“I got my coke pipe in my pocket,” he allegedly told police as he removed a PVC pipe with aluminum foil on one end, containing cocaine residue.
However, when he admitted to the crime last December he told Magistrate Douglas Frederick “when my eyesight went missing, I was blinded by the spirit”.
That statement saw him spending an automatic three weeks at the Psychiatric Hospital where he was assessed by doctors.
Following that stint doctors reported that he was fit to plead and the sentence was imposed.
