After a brief hiatus, the popular end-of-month, mid-week cruise has returned bigger and better than ever before, but aboard a different vessel.
Last Wednesday, just over 300 partygoers jumped on board the MV Dream Chaser to dance their cares away.
The party cruise, which has traditionally been held on the Jolly Roger, set sail just after 11 p.m. and returned in the wee hours on Thursday morning. It featured a number of the island’s top DJs, including Blackqrose Supreme, Daddy Fabien and Surf Rat who kept the crowd entertained during the four-hour long event.
Promoter DJ Ras told Bajan Vibes the event was something he came up with back in 2014 and since then it has grown by leaps and bounds.
Asked why he chose Wednesday, the middle of the work week, to have a fete, he said, “everyone normally has their weekends planned for different things . . . [but] Wednesday is kind of open and people just like a little action in the middle of the week”.
Pleased with the response he has been getting, DJ Ras has big plans for this year’s Crop Over season.
“Once a month we will give people something entertaining, every last Wednesday of the month, to look forward to. We are going to do Trippy right up until June, then we give them [patrons] a Trippy for Crop Over,” he said without giving too much away in terms of his plans.
