A husband and wife charged with wrongful confinement, of their 19-year-old daughter, were granted $5,000 each today when they appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.
Antonio Marcus Fitzpatrick, 49, and Stacy Fitzpatrick, 47, both of Brereton, St Philip, are accused of committing the offence between July 1, 2017, and February 7, 2018.
The two, who are represented by attorney-at-law Karen Best, were not required to plead to the joint charge, read by Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant, as it allegedly occurred in the District ‘C’ jurisdiction.
On Wednesday, police, acting on a tip off, visited the residence of the Fitzpatricks. During their investigation, the daughter was discovered in a locked room in a malnourished state, with her hair very unkempt.
She was subsequently transported to the state-run Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance for medical attention.
Both accused will make their next appearance in the District ‘C’ Magistrates’ Court on February 13.
