A decision to smoke marijuana to celebrate a birthday today landed a 31-year-old St Peter man before the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.
Paul McDonald Johnson, of Lot 15, Leslie Gardens, Maynards, pleaded guilty to possession of three grammes of marijuana before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant and was released on $1,500 bail after his motorcar was stopped and searched by police yesterday.
“That is a little weed I had to smoke for my birthday,” Johnson allegedly told the arresting officers.
Yesterday, 28-year-old Damian Omar Waterman, of French Village, St Peter, who was a passenger in Johnson’s vehicle, was also nabbed with one gramme of the illegal drug.
Today, he also pleaded guilty and was released on $1,500 bail.
However, Waterman, who is currently unemployed, was placed on a 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew until he makes his return to court.
