The criminal charge against a 17-year-old teen has been upgraded to murder following last Friday’s shooting death of Kesmar Codrington.
Isaiah Abraham Cody Wiggins, of Scarborough, Christ Church was initially charged with causing serious bodily harm to Codrington.
However when he made his second appearance in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court this morning after spending the night in police custody, the offence was upgraded to murder.
Twenty-three-year-old Codrington, of Brownes Avenue, Bayville, St Michael, was shot while at Bay Street, the City, around 5:15 p.m. on February 16.
He was transported to the state-run Queen Elizabeth Hospital by private vehicle for medical attention but died shortly after.
Today, Wiggins, who was represented by attorney-at-law Arthur Holder, was not required to plead to the indictable charge which was read out to him by Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant.
The murder accused returns to court on March 22.
