A 28-year-old Jamaican woman has been granted $2,000 bail after appearing in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court today on a wounding charge.
Vanessa Trudyann Jones, who lives at Melbourne, Apartment C, Black Rock, St Michael is accused of unlawfully and maliciously committing the act against her compatriot Shellyann Wilson on February 24.
The two women were reportedly dancing at Zanzi Bar on Nelson Street, The City around 10:30 p.m. on the aforementioned date when Wilson accidentally hit Jones, who responded by pushing her.
Wilson then apologized and walked away, but was later confronted by Jones.
A quarrel ensued which morphed into a fight.
During the physical confrontation, Jones reportedly used an object to strike Wilson in the head several times, causing her to bleed.
A patron separated them and the matter was reported to the police.
While Wilson received medical treatment, Jones was arrested two days later.
After hearing the facts of the case today, Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant adjourned the matter until Friday, May 2, when the Wilson is expected to appear in court.
In the meantime, Jones, who arrived here last December and is scheduled to leave in April, must to stay away from her alleged victim.
