Young Bajan agripreneur heads to Peru
Young agripreneur Joshua Forte has made it to the finals of the Caribbean Innovation Competition (CIC) which will be held in Peru later this month.
The CIC is an international support programme and business start-up accelerator for regional entrepreneurs.
Organized by the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT), in collaboration with regional and national partners, it helps to transform intellectual ideas into profitable business models through the commercialization of Intellectual Entrepreneurial Assets (IEAs).
Forte’s Red Diamond Compost is an agricultural manufacturing company based in Barbados which strives to create healthier societies and a safer environment across the Caribbean. They are dedicated to producing the highest quality organic biologic solutions, such as fertilizers and other soil amendments, surpassing basic organic standards.
Their products are made primarily from organic waste. They divert materials from landfills which contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and foul odours. They also help people to have access to the most nutrient dense foods, to improve their health and overall lives thus strengthening food and nutrition security.
“I feel extremely honoured to represent my company and country at such a grand event and I will do my best as I embark on this next chapter of my journey. Always remembering my school motto, ‘Per ardua ad astra’ – through adversity to the stars.” said Forte, who is supported by the Caribbean Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Livelihoods and the Caribbean Climate Innovation Centre.
